Baptism

Baptism is a joyful and special occasion when a baby, child or adult is welcomed into membership of the world-wide Church. There is no age limit for Baptism.

The service is arranged on request. Please contact the Rector by ‘phone or email so that dates can be discussed and services arranged.

The Rector will also visit you at a convenient time before the service to explain the various parts of the service and to answer any questions you may have.

There is no fee for a baptism although we do recognise that many families like to make a ‘thank-offering’. Keston Church has supported for many years the ‘Just Children Foundation’ in Zimbabwe, a foundation that provides shelter and food for vulnerable street children. All thank-offerings are added to this support funding.

Children are always welcome at Keston Parish Church.

Weddings

Keston Parish Church is a beautiful ancient church, an ideal setting for a wedding. It can cater for small weddings and for services with up to about 120 guests.

In October 2008, the law governing a person’s right to be married in a parish church was changed by parliament. This replaced the old law whereby the bride or bridegroom had to live within the parish boundaries. The new law also allows marriages to take place if the bride or bridegroom has a connection with the church. Such connections include the baptism of the bride or bridegroom in that church, if parent or grandparent has been married there, or if bride or bridegroom has had a residence in the parish for 6 months or more in the past.

Initial enquiries for marriage should be made well in advance by contacting the Rector by ‘phone or email. She will be able to confirm your eligibility to be married in the church and help you to continue planning your marriage ceremony.

Keston Parish Church is also able to hold Services of Blessing following a wedding at a civil ceremony either in this country or overseas.
