Church is a beautiful ancient church, an ideal
setting for a wedding. It can cater for small weddings and for services with up
to about 120 guests.
In October 2008, the law governing a person’s right
to be married in a parish church was changed by parliament. This replaced the
old law whereby the bride or bridegroom had to live within the parish
boundaries. The new law also allows marriages to take place if the bride or
bridegroom has a connection with the church. Such connections include the
baptism of the bride or bridegroom in that church, if parent or grandparent has
been married there, or if bride or bridegroom has had a residence in the parish
for 6 months or more in the past.
Initial enquiries for marriage should be made well in
advance by contacting the Rector by ‘phone or email. She will be able to confirm
your eligibility to be married in the church and help you to continue planning
your marriage ceremony.
