ChiorKESTON PARISH CHURCH CHOIR FEBRUARY 2009
Keston Parish Church is proud of it’s choral tradition!

In November 2008 the choir celebrated fifty years of affiliation to the Royal School of Church Music by commissioning an anthem, O Praise ye the Lord, from local composer Ian Brentnall.

The main work of the choir is to lead the music at our Sunday 10am Holy Communion service. As well as singing hymns old and new and a Communion setting (Grayston Ives Salisbury Service) we perform an anthem most Sundays.
Our repertoire ranges from William Byrd (Ave Verum) and Thomas Tallis (If ye love me ) to John Rutter  (God be in my head) and Howard Goodall ( The Lord’s my shepherd)

The Choir also sings for weddings and funerals. Our highlight of the year is the annual Christmas Carol Service held on the Sunday before Christmas. We also perform special music at the major Church festivals.

We rehearse on Friday afternoons in the Keston Church Hall from 2.30pm .

At present we have a membership of around fifteen  whose ages
range from 50+ to 80+.

David has been Organist and Choirmaster at Keston Parish Church since 1978. Prior to that he sung in the choir at St Mary’s Shortlands and acted a third assistant to his organ  teacher the late Leslie Ellis. As well as playing the organ David is active as a singer in the Bromley area, most notably with the Allegri Singers www.allegrisingers.org.uk.When not involved with music David works as a Customer Services Librarian at Bromley Central Library where his main responsibilities are the provision of music sets to local performing groups. He lives in Bickley with his wife Caroline and their dog Tara.
